Respirator Fit
TestingIndustrial Health provides on-site respirator fit testing using PortaCount® quantitative fit testing instruments for compliance with OSHA regulation 1910.134 Respiratory Protection
Many employees work in conditions where they are exposed to harmful dusts, fogs, fumes, mists, gases, smokes, sprays, or vapors. The right respirator properly fitted, can protect them from exposure.
OSHA regulation 1910.134 Respiratory Protection, requires annual fit testing for all employees using respirators with tight-fitting face pieces (either negative or positive pressure).
The PortaCount® quantitative fit testing instrument can be used to fit test almost any tight-fitting respirator including elastomeric half and full-face masks, PAPRs, and SCBA respirators. The PortaCount® makes a direct measurement of respirator fit factors. There are no error-inducing assumptions made to calculate "equivalent" fit factors. The measurement is made while the person simultaneously performs dynamic moving and/or breathing exercises designed to stress the respirator seal in ways that simulate anticipated work place motions.
Test results will be documented with printed test records and a summary report listing all employees tested and their approvals/results. Employees who pass are given documentation of approval at the time of their testing.
